The model numbering of the JCB loaders makes it easy to tell which is which – even on paper. JCB 3CX and 4CX Platinum Editions Revealed
JCB is celebrating 70 years of manufacturing its backhoe loader with the unveiling Platinum Editions of the 3CX and 4CX models. Company founder Joseph Cyril Bamford CBE invented the backhoe concept and the first JCB model was manufactured in 1953 after he combined a lightweight backhoe with a Major Loadall tractor loader. It created, for the first time, a single machine which combined a front shovel and rear excavator arm. While it took 20 years for JCB to build its 50,000 backhoes, under the leadership of JCB Chairman Anthony Bamford, more than 900,000 have now been made. JCB has been…

French manufacturer Mecalac makes a range of wheel loaders, articulated wheel loaders, swing loaders, telescopic loaders and, of course, backhoe loaders. Not great sellers in the UK, despite the fact that the backhoe loaders are made in Coventry. They were previously branded as Terex, but this UK part of the business was bought by Mecalac in 2017. The range of loaders is broad and the machines look well-sized for UK operation. With a significant UK dealer network we may well be finding more Mecalac loaders for sale advertised here at PlantPages in the future.
