The pedestrian dump trucks – or mini dumpers – are often compared to motorised wheelbarrows, but the are much more than this. Available in tracked or wheel versions, the pedestrian dumper is used for carrying loads in tight spaces that a full sized dump truck would be unable to access. Typically the operator would walk behind the machine, but on slightly larger versions there are platforms for the operator to stand on. Also known as power barrows, these machines are typically petrol or diesel powered, but battery powered versions are starting to appear. Payloads vary, but a typical mini dumper would manage a load of between 200kgs and half a tonne and still fit through a standard doorway. High tip versions are available that can tip directly into a skip or a high sided truck.
