Most of the forklifts sold by Caterpillar in the UK are diesel powered. The company does make electric versions, but the diesel ones are the most common in the UK. CAT lift Trucks have been sold though the Impact Handling dealer network, which has been the exclusive dealer since 2010. The diesel counterbalance forklift trucks (as opposed to the telehandler variety) are available with capacities that range from 2 to 10 tonnes. The latest DP models are equipped with Euro Stage V diesel engines with low emissions and excellent fuel consumption. The model number determines the capacity of the lift truck, so the DP20N is a 2 tonne lift, whilst the range goes up to the 3.8 litre common rail, diesel -powered DP100N. The lighter trucks (DP20 to DP35) use the Mitsubishi D04EG 3.3 litre 4-cylinder diesel engines rated at 36kW, whist the mid-range CAT Diesel forklift trucks between 4 and 5.5 tonnes use the same engines – but turbocharged with increased power of 54kW. The top weight category CAT forklifts use the Kubota V3800 3.8 litre diesel engine rated at 81kW.
