Think too about the weight of what will be lifted – not just a load, but the personnel on the lift as well. How should the machine be powered? If it is working inside then electric beats diesel every day – as with all machinery, the march towards a totally electric access platform industry is under way in any case. The large question is boom vs scissor lift. A boom lift can typically lift a lot higher than a scissor lift – scissor lifts can reach heights of between 20–50ft, whereas a boom lift aerial platform can easily make it to 185ft. If you have heavier items to lift and are happy to simply go up and down, then you should be considering a scissor lift aerial platform.

JCB’s New Electric Scissor Lift Range
JCB Access is updating its hydraulically-driven scissor range, with six electric drive scissor platforms. HVO OK for all Haulotte Internal Combustion booms
